Chef Bio....
Chef Mandy Gum is a passionate culinary instructor, chef, and mentor dedicated to shaping the future of the culinary industry. She teaches at Carver Career & Technical Center, where she helps post-secondary students develop culinary expertise while fostering creativity and professionalism in the kitchen.
With a background in culinary arts and business management, Chef Gum brings a well-rounded perspective to her role. She holds an Associate of Science in Culinary Arts from Bridgemont Community & Technical College, a Culinary Arts Certification from Carver Career Center, and has studied Business Management and Accounting at West Virginia University Institute of Technology. Her expertise spans menu development, food safety, budgeting, sustainability, and restaurant operations.
A certified member of the American Culinary Federation (ACF) since 2015, Chef Gum has earned multiple accolades, including West Virginia ACF Chef of the Year and numerous medals in ACF and SkillsUSA competitions. She has also coached and mentored students to state, regional, and national victories in SkillsUSA and ProStart competitions.
Outside the kitchen and classroom, Chef Gum loves exploring new flavors, traveling, and making memories with her husband and three kids. Whether she’s mentoring students or crafting dishes, her goal remains the same - to share her love for food and inspire the next generation of chefs.
